Steam PC games can now be played on Xbox consoles in the US, UK, and other countries

Xbox owners in the US, UK, and other countries can now play Steam PC games on their console, as Nvidia has recently unlocked access to its GeForce Now streaming service.

The service runs on the Microsoft Edge browser, which means Xbox One and Xbox X/S users in the countries supported by Nvidia can run it, too. It will give them access to more than 1,000 games, particularly those that aren’t available on your console. This includes titles such as League of Legends and Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

As The Verge notes, this isn’t the first time that Xbox is allowing players to stream PC games on their consoles. Cloud service app Parsec has been providing Xbox users with the same functionality, only that it can only reflect what’s on your PC to a browser.

On the other hand, GeForce Now can simply run the games straight out of your console’s Edge browser without having to connect to a PC. It also supports mouse and keyboard, although it can result in a couple of lags.

GeForce Now can only be streamed for free in one-hour sessions. Those who would want to play longer would have to pay for a six-month subscription worth $64.99 (~P3,300) for 1080p/60fps six-hour streams or $129.99 (~P 6,600) for 1440p/120fps eight-hour streams.

While this feature is still new, it could relatively work as a teaser for Microsoft’s plans to bring its Xbox Cloud Gaming service to consoles this holiday season.
