MG gives the subcompact ZS more muscle

The latest version of MG Philippines’ popular subcompact crossover has arrived—and it boasts of new looks, updated tech, and a new turbocharged powertrain.

Joining the MG ZS Alpha AT, Style AT, and Core MT variants is the new top-spec variant MG ZST.

And yup, that “T” stands for the turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine that generates 160hp and 230Nm of torque. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual sports mode, this lets drivers enjoy smooth, efficient delivery of power to the wheels.

The ZST comes with a new Obsidian Matrix grille and full-LED projector headlights. Adding to the vehicles sportier appearance are a wider front air dam, 17-inch two-tone Tomahawk wheels wrapped in low-profile tires, and red brake calipers.

The sporty look continues inside with fine red stitching on the seats and trim, and red embroidered MG monograms on the driver and front passenger headrests.

Commutes and road trips are made more fun with the new 10.1-inch infotainment system and six-speaker setup. There’s also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, rear air conditioner vents, multiple storage compartments, and a dedicated USB port behind the rear view mirror for a neater dashcam installation.

Safety features include rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, cornering lamps, and traction control, to name a few. The ZST is also outfitted with a Blind Spot Information System paired with the car’s intelligent 360-degree vehicle view, which gives you a bird’s eye view of the car during slow-moving traffic or when slowly moving into tight parking spaces.

The MG ZST retails for P1,158,888 and comes with a 5-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first), and 1-year free periodic maintenance service (PMS).
