Microsoft launches Surface Duo 2 with Snapdragon 888, triple camera

Microsoft has officially announced the new Surface Duo 2, the company’s second attempt at an Android-powered folding phone.

The Surface Duo 2 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and 5G networking.

There are two 5.8-inch AMOLED screens with 1934 x 1892 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Combined, it’s a huge 8.3-inch display with 2688 x 1892 resolution. The screens are bright at 800 nits, and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

There’s also a triple-stack of cameras at the rear—a 12MP wide, 12MP telephoto, and 16MP ultrawide—as well as a 12MP front-facing camera.

Like its predecessor, the Duo 2 supports pen input with Microsoft’s line of Surface Pens. It also supports the new Surface Slim Pen 2, which can be magnetically attached to the outside of the device to charge.

This Microsoft foldable is fitted with a 4449mAh battery; alas the phone does not support wireless charging. It does, however, get 23W USB-C fast charging, although you will have to get the charger separately.

The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 starts at $1,500 and is now available for pre-order in the United States. There’s no news yet if Microsoft will release this in other countries as well.
