In celebration of the iconic GR Supra’s 35th anniversary this August, LEGO and Toyota have joined forces to create a life-size driveable version of the sports car built with a little less than half a million bricks.
The 1:1 scale creation comes in the GR Supra’s signature Nitro Yellow and is equipped with working wheels, door handles, emblems, head and tail lights taken from Toyota’s Gazoo Racing parts bin.

The exterior is just half of the story. According to Motor Trend, the interiors of the car incorporates a factory GR Supra driver’s seat, steering wheel, pedals, gauge cluster, and infotainment screen. Although it won’t be running the GR Supra’s turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, the LEGO replica boasts an electric engine that can peak at 17 miles per hour (28 kilometers per hour).

Apart from the LEGO Supra’s uncanny resemblance to the supercar, what makes it impressive is the laborious process the builders had to go through to complete it. The team spent a full 3,000 hours prior to the build just developing the plans for the massive project. And that’s on top of the 2,400 hours they spent actually putting together the almost-half-a-million bricks.
The life-sized LEGO Supra is now on display right beside an actual yellow GR Supra in LEGOLAND Japan until October 11.
