Alodia Gosiengfiao: Capturing infinite possibilities

Long before gaming and esports became mainstream, the name “Alodia” was already a household name. Having been in the gaming and cosplay industry since her teenage years, coupled with her unwavering passion and dedication, she has managed to cement her place in the community.

It’s no wonder why realme, the country’s no. 1 smartphone brand for Q1 2021, has teamed up with the cosplay icon, entrepreneur, and gaming royalty. Who better to empower the local gaming community to capture infinite possibilities than the Alodia Gosiengfiao, right?

Congratulations on being part of the realme Squad since 2020! The realme TechLife devices aim to make every young Filipino live more conveniently and efficiently daily. How does technology help you in your fast-paced lifestyle?

Technology definitely makes me do and accomplish more stuff in the same amount of time. What I like about realme is that it eases the process with its whole ecosystem and aids me in fulfilling daily tasks with less energy so I can do more.

Which among the features of realme 8 do you love the most?

For me, the realme 8’s processor and speed are very valuable because when I play games, there are no FPS drops and lag when loading.

What games do you usually play on the realme 8?

My favorite at the moment would be Wild Rift and Ragnarok M: Eternal Love!

All these years, you’ve managed to maintain your physique. How do you stay fit?

As much as I can, I try to exercise daily. Also I try to eat healthy meals such as salads. I try to incorporate this into my routine.

How does the realme Watch 2 series help you with meeting your fitness goals?

The realme Watch 2 series helps me track my heart rate and blood oxygen levels especially when I do cardio. And also it tracks my sleep, so I know if I have gotten enough rest to tackle on the next day.

Which among the features of the smartwatch do you love the most?

I love that it has a longer battery life so I can use it longer per charge!

How about music—what part does it play in your life?

Music is everything to me. It sets my mood for the day. I have a different playlist when I’m working, from when I’m working out, to gaming and to cosplay!

think of how you can contribute more than what you can gain. And when given the chance to be up there, be a blessing and light to others so that we can continue to make this community a better place to be part of.

You’ve been in the gaming industry for years. Can you tell us how different things are then and now?

I am just happy and proud to see how this industry has grown over the years. Before, it was looked down upon especially that the notion was there was no future if you play games all day. But now, things have changed. It can be a full-time career and it has changed so many lives for the better!

That’s so true. Now, one of the harsh realities of being a girl gamer is being stereotyped as someone who’s only playing to impress guys. Did you ever experience that?

Impress guys—that was never my intention. I was one of them! Just kidding! I play because I enjoy it and to be honest, if you focus on the game and not make it about your gender being a handicap (or to get favors/items), it would help a lot to not be affected by it. This is probably also one reason why I chose my IGN (in-game name) as Black Mage because it is quite ambiguous. People thought I was a guy when I used to play in net cafes and in my first few online games. For me, passion, skills, and values trump all.

Very well said and we couldn’t agree with you more. What do you think are the things that you did that made you become one of the household names in the industry?

It was truly my passion. I will never get tired of this and anything related to this industry. Also, I’m genuinely happy when someone becomes successful if they have the right intention and heart for this community and industry. That’s why I aim to help newbies who believe in this.

Speaking of helping newbies, can you tell us about Tier One Entertainment, your esports and gaming talent agency?

It is very nostalgic to think about it. When we started around 2017, there were only seven people in the company. Now, we have about 100 people on the backend and 800+ talents.

There were so many struggles at the start. “What are these kids doing?” “Gaming? Are they serious?” But again, we found many allies who shared the same vision and passion, so we were able to work together to support the community and industry we are in.

It’s grown so much! And we heard you’re also planning to expand its local operations to other Asian countries.

Yes, if all goes well, definitely we hope to expand to more countries further. I can’t disclose much, but all I can say is that we will never stop because this is something we truly love.

That’s exciting! We’re cheering you on! What’s your advice to all aspiring and newbie gaming streamers today?

At first it may be daunting, but with enough research and guidance, you will be able to take that first step. Nothing is impossible. Never give up. Be different. Be genuine. Don’t be user-friendly (this will bite you in the back). Rather, think of how you can contribute more than what you can gain. And when given the chance to be up there, be a blessing and light to others so that we can continue to make this community a better place to be part of.
