Pokémon Go developer Niantic has soft-launched its new AR game ‘Pikmin Bloom’

Pokémon Go developer Niantic is once again adding magic to your next trip in the great outdoors, with the release of its new augmented reality mobile game Pikmin Bloom.

Just like Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom uses your phone’s GPS to create an augmented reality where you are depicted as a Mii avatar tasked to tag along a colorful half-plant, half-animal species, called Pikmin, as you walk around.

As Engadget notes, Pikmin starts out as seedlings, which you must pick up along the way and develop into cutesy little creatures. They’ll follow you around and make more flowers bloom along your path.

Same as Pokémon Go, the farther you walk, the more chances you can grow your Pikmin squad.

You’ll also be able to collect items on your walks, including clothes Pikmin can wear and fruit you can feed your creatures to make flowers bloom on their heads.

The game is pure fun and leisure because, unlike Pokémon Go, it wouldn’t require you to pit your Pikmin against each other—in what could be a Pokémon battle—nor challenge you to collect rare monsters.

Pikmin Bloom has rolled out in Android and iOS devices in Singapore and Australia on October 27 and will be available for download worldwide in the coming days.
