Nearly two years since they closed their doors, indoor cinemas in Metro Manila have finally been given the green light to reopen. Of course, safety protocols will be strictly enforced—and only those who are fully vaccinated can watch a movie.
Here is a list of Metro Manila cinemas that will be resuming operations:
Megaworld Cinemas
According to Megaworld Malls, their cinemas are using modified ventilation and air-conditioning systems equipped with Merv 13 air filters and designed to pump 100% fresh air round-the-clock. All five Megaworld cinemas in Metro Manila have been given the Safety Seal from their respective Local Government Units. These are:
- Eastwood Cinemas
- Lucky Chinatown Cinemas
- Newport Cinemas
- Uptown Cinemas
- Venice Cineplex
Meanwhile, Southwoods Cinemas in Biñan City, Laguna, and Festive Walk Cinemas in Iloilo City will also reopen on November 10.
Power Plant Mall
Power Plant Mall in Makati is also reopening on November 10. There will be a 1.2-meter distance between moviegoers on the same row and a 2.2-meter gap in front and behind each patron. All cinemagoers must be fully vaccinated and will need to accomplish a health declaration form before purchasing tickets online and onsite. Contactless payment solutions are highly encouraged, and Rockwell’s single-QR contact tracing platform HealthBadge will be scanned at the entrance.
There will also be a one-hour interval between each screening for thorough disinfection, through UV light and misting machines.
Gateway CinePlex and AliMall Cinemas
Gateway Cineplex and Ali Mall Cinemas secured their Safety Seal last August. They have announced that they are ready to welcome patrons back on November 10.
