Hyundai commits to achieve global carbon neutrality by 2045

Hyundai Motor Company has launched a global campaign called “Expecting  Generation One” that presents the automaker’s commitment to fight climate change and achieve carbon neutrality in its products and operations worldwide by 2045.

As announced during the Hyundai Hydrogen Wave event on Sept. 7, the South Korean giant is planning to build the road towards a sustainable world through a multi-dimensional strategy focused on clean mobility and the use of green energy and hydrogen.

Hyundai intends to expand its leadership in electrification in the coming years by securing 30 percent of its global vehicles sales with zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs).

By 2040, the company expects that battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) will account for 80 percent of its total fleet sales.

The company also aims to become a clean mobility provider through its long-term investments in green hydrogen based on renewable energy, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Second Life Battery Energy  Storage Systems (SLBESS).

“With this campaign, Hyundai aims to build consensus with customers about the value of planning for future generations. Our action is not just for us living in the present, but also for all future generations, including the ecosystems of our precious planet,” Hyundai Global Chief Marketing Officer and Customer Experience Head Thomas Schemera said in a press release.

As part of the campaign, Hyundai released a short film showing how its drive to go green can affect everyone around the globe, especially today’s young generation. Watch it below and let us know what you think in the comments section.
