Huawei has finally unveiled the latest addition to its nova mid-range series — the Huawei nova 9 — during its APAC Autumn Launch Event on Thursday, October 28.
Designed for today’s young, media-savvy smartphone users, the Huawei nova 9 comes with flagship-grade camera technology, compared to its premium Mate series and photography-focused P-series.
Huawei nova 9 is equipped with the 50 MP Ultra Vision Camera, the flagship RYYB color filter array (CFA), and XD Fusion engine to enhance the quality of photos with rich detail and lesser noise in low-light shooting.
The RYYB color filter array provides 40% improvement of the amount of light, while the XD Fusion engine inherited Huawei’s flagship image algorithm, including AI brightening and anti-distortion.
The quad-camera system is further enhanced with an 8MP ultra-wide angle, 2MP depth, and 2MP macro shooters, as well as a new distinct camera layout, called the Star Orbit Ring.

On the front, the Huawei nova 9 features a 32MP selfie camera that can record videos with 4K resolution. Its 6.57-inch curved display supports a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, which is backed by the Touch Turbo technology for a faster and more accurate gaming experience.
As for its design, the Huawei nova 9 features an ultra-thin 7.77mm, 175g body that comes in two colors: Black and the new Starry Blue, which reflects pastel rainbow hues under shifting light.
On top of it all, the Huawei nova 9 is equipped with 66W Huawei SuperCharge technology that the company said can fully charge the device’s 4300mAh battery in 33 minutes.
