Along with the announcement of the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3, Samsung also unveiled its Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic smartwatches. They are the first smartwatches to run Wear OS3, which is a joint-development project between Samsung and Google. They also feature Samsung’s One UI Watch user interface.
The Galaxy Watch4 series is equipped with BioActive Sensor, which uses a single chip to run three other health sensors: Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart, and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. It allows you to monitor your blood pressure, detect an irregular heartbeat, measure your blood oxygen (SpO2) levels, and even measure your body composition.
The body composition measurement tool captures 2,400 data points in just 15 seconds and can give you a comprehensive set of measurements such as skeletal muscle, basal metabolic rate, body water, and body fat percentage. All you have to do is place the tips of your middle and ring fingers onto the side buttons.
These smartwatches also come packed with wellness features to track your daily activities and help you stay motivated. Aside from a wide range of guided workouts, you can also enjoy Group Challenges with your friends and family with Samsung Health, and keep track of your sleep patterns via Sleep Scores and blood oxygen level.
The Galaxy Watch4 series is powered by a 5nm processor that’s 20% faster, has 50% more RAM, and has a GPU 10 times faster than the previous generation.
Both watches come in two sizes.The Watch4 comes in 40mm and 44mm, while the Classic, which has a rotating bezel, is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes.
Battery life is up to 40 hours, and 30 minutes of charging already provides up to 10 hours of battery.
Pricing and availability
Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic are available for pre-order starting on August 19, with retail availability starting September 22.
